well the day of moving actually went wayy better than i thought it would. my dad and i headed down to the house around 900, and were there a little late, but oh well. here's what happened in a nutshell ...b/w 930 & 330
*garage door man came and fixed my garage aka. put new rollers and reprogrammed it~$140
*locksmith came to rekey doors, now my front door has a deadbolt but, it sticks some...hmmm, something to look at (not a HUGE deal b/c i have a garage door, but needs to be fixed perhaps)~$99.50
*rooms to go delivered my furniture (living room), it's perfect except a seam is coming apart, i called them and they are sending someone to look at it on the 3rd! (of october?!) but if he can't fix it, i'll get a new one, SWEET! $0
*washer/dryer delivered (EARLY), the set fits snug as a bug in a rug, if i only had hot water, i could do things.~$0 i also met some random neighbor, his name is flag, he say "nice to meet ya"
flag:"you got any kids?"
me:"um no!"
dad:"she doesn't even have a BOYFRIEND!" (thanks dad for letting this weird man know i am a single girl living alone)
flag:"that's too bad, they's a lot o' kids down there"
*foley's delivered my bedroom furniture (EARLY!) and it is BEAUTIFUL! it's really the only room that has plenty of room for it, i am still re-arranging the living room furniture. ~ $0
*jenni called me to tell me she isn't coming this weekend b/c she is moving north to the woodlands, and now maybe even dallas (please be safe friend!...you know, austin is on the WAY to dallas ;) j/k)
*sprinkler system man came and installed a rain sensor, so my sprinklers won't go off if there is too much rain, just in time for that bitch rita. ~ $111.45
*i have cable! i need a tv stand, i need to go get my cable modem so i can have internet.
about my friends/family being affected by rita:
*kelli is in town by tomorrow night, so she may actually be my first guest, she is evacuating from friendswood
*joe is evacuating as well from that area, heading to dallas w/ the fam
*allison is my galveston friend, ie, the one in most danger, she is on her way after college station, perhaps ACL with her?
*rose & thad are leaving corpus tonight heading to san antonio but hopefully they'll keep driving north to see me! (that is what they WANT to do, but it makes no sense to drive the extra hour)
*l*bo's fam is leaving to dallas to spend time with her, snug as bugs in the one bedroom apt
*tj's fam is heading to waco to hang in HIS one bedroom apt
*jenni is mentioned above
*sheavon? fuck, i can't get through to ANYONE's CELL PHONE!
so apparently people in our houston office are evacuating to our office. sweet, maybe i'll have an office mate. apparently we are the luck ones, since after katrina, it seems that we will be the only office in the southwest left standing.
as for ACL, if this bitch hits as hard as they say, i will not be attending saturday, i will be cozy in my new house watching movies and sex and the city and DRINKING margaRITAS. and can i say, what the hell is WRONG with people? i understand that it is a category 5, i had natural world, i've watched the weather channel for over 12 hours: this is a big deal, but in AUSTIN?! i just wanted to buy some bottles of water for MYSELF, and not to SURVIVE and they are GONE, ALL OVER! people are seriously stocking up, you'd think it was Y2K again. my dad and i were buying hotdogs, these people are buying water and serious shit. so what did i do? i just filled up my car with gas and got about 6 bottles of water at target while purusing for bath towels and shower curtains, before they were all attacked by the crazies who populate lakeway. whatever. on another crazy note, baylor CANCELLED classes for friday?! umm, how many times did we have to go to class in torrential rains?! i understand it's going to be a LOT of water, but cancelling classes? i still have to go to WORK and we live more south! whatever. soo...umm, my question is...am i missing some sort of memo? like the "shit is going to hit the fan"memo..? ok, if i am, will someone please let me know.
