never forget.
well there's not much to write about my weekend anyways...plus, it's the 5 year anniversary so therefore i don't think there's much to write about but that.
5 years ago, i was a sophomore at baylor, i remember i had an ISY test that day and i was probably skipping my 930...oops. but all i remember was waking up to my roommate, jenell, on the phone and then her running across the room to turn on the tv and telling me, in my confused state that planes had hit the twin towers...i groggily came to, and was shocked. i immediately called my parents, i frantically asked my dad where my brother was (he's a pilot for american airlines and had recently started the flights to nyc)...luckily he was at home, but he had just come back from new york a few days before...that's the closest it affected me personally and that's not even close to how some people were affected. i spent the time i had before class watching tv...thinking we for sure wouldn't have that test, but we did. what the H is wrong with baylor? i also had to go to my social world class which was spent just discussing the events, it was so surreal. that night the fab four had dinner: angie, dustin, ben and i, and i went into "i love everyone and have to tell everyone right now" mode. i couldn't help it...i never understood what my mom meant years before when she remembered where she was when JFK was shot or how certain moments stay in your memory forever like that...but i know that i will never forget where i was or what i was doing that day.
i want to send a shoutout to steph-ho because her birthday is today and 2 years ago, i was in new york and i remember how hard it was for me to think about helping her celebrate, but we tried our best. also, i know sharla is flying today so i wish her safe travels.
i lit a candle today in honor of anyone and everyone who was affected and still is.
God bless America.
