"you held my hand and walked me home, i know"--avril lavigne
hey hey
not too much to say...yesterday at work turned into such pain at the end of the day. yes i had bought advil cold & sinus, yes i had taken it in the non-drowsy way, but as 5:30 rolled around i knew several things: 1. i was cold 2. i was tired and 3. i was in no way able to make it to the show last night. well boo. so i called some people to keep me awake on the 50 min drive home, i called shawna and kel and thank goodness, that was good, i made it home safely. (i don't know about this whole no cell phones while driving thing? i'm a woman, therefore, i am able to multitask. seriously, i think i'm one of the only people i know who is able to drive and talk at the same time without being a bad driver...and i'm not even joking. [i bet EVERYONE thinks this])
anyways, i got home, threw some stuff in the washer (because i need clothes this weekend) and changed, shivering, went to sleep. i slept from 6:30 to 8:30. i woke up to change the clothes out of the dryer and throw the jeans in. whenever one is sick, as sick as i felt last night, you always turn to the old remedies that your grandma taught you, that you never believed in. well for me, i only believed that they worked when she or my mom did it--apparently it works if you take care of yourself too. so the thing my grandma used to do to us was called "bano de pies" or "foot bath" (yeah don't get too excited with the english translation). basically, you're supposed to put your feet in a tub of water and just soak them. then you put some water over your lower legs as well, and if fever occurs, a little rubbing alcohol to bring it down. (i had no alcohol, but i didn't think i had a fever either). i have no small water tub, so i just took a bath. afterwards, you towel off the feet and take some vicks vaporub (the answer to EVERYTHING), rub on the bottom of your feet, and put on socks. and for good measure, i put some on my chest and under my nose. this apparently "cures" you. i hate vicks. boo. but let me tell ya, after some nyquil and laguna beach, i was back in bed, dreaming sweet dreams and this morning, as much as i could have called in sick. i felt better! (thank you grandma)
i am obviously playing the sick card b/c i came into work in jeans, a baylor sweatshirt and my soccer slides. whatever. no one cares. speaking of no one caring, i accidently slipped and was listening to jb & sandy and they were discussing the upcoming UT game vs. baylor and kept saying "who cares about the bears?". that's fine, whatever. in case no one noticed, we don't suck as bad as we used to, so that's fine. i have no faith in us against UT because UT is going to beat us up pretty bad, but what fun is it to beat a weak opponent? anyways, i think UT fans need to get over themselves, because they too are going to lose some good players sometime and turn into the next OU. (yes, i live in austin and i don't like lance armstrong either. shoot me now) i feel like i'm the only spirited fan for baylor. sic 'em.
also, i'm going to vegas soon, as in nov. 17 - 20. well southwest tickets are outrageous and usually they do these weekend sales where they just rule everything out and you can get a cheap ticket. well today i got that email. *hallelujuah music* everything was right. of course i could only travel on the 18th, but that was fine, i figured i'd just get a really early flight, no biggie. so when i go to book the flight beacuse believe me it DID say austin, tx to las vegas, nv $109/one way. it doesn't give me that option, oh no. it gives me the $192+ however much more money option. what.the.hell. anyways, i'm about to spend 30 minutes yelling at the computer because they are only "internet specials" why should a REAL person be involved? le sigh.
tonight, i'm meeting my mom and my old boss's wife for dinner and then going home to pack, clean up some and go to the parents house so my mom and i can leave bright and early for h-town. hey ladies, have you heard about the weird convict on the loose in harris county...? GET EXCITED! awesome.
edit: i love our office assistant, not only did she bring the best breakfast ever today (breakfast tacos...somehow bagels seem less cool now) but she passed out our paychecks with little pay day candy bars on them. she is tooo cute! *heart*
