yesterday was a good day for weather, but not such a great day regarding one of the most important decisions of my life~adopting a companion for the next 10-15 years of my life. yesterday i was so stoked about jones the fox that i was going to go twice to the shelter, once at lunch to make sure he was there and after work to officially start the adoption process. when i walked in, giddy, i turned the corner and said "jonesy!" and there it was: the red sign across his nameplate: ADOPTED. my heart literally sank, and i just looked at him, then, as if he knew, he started whimpering. i told him, "i KNOW! you were supposed to be MINE!" sad days. :( plus as of now, there aren't any new prospects. maybe i should wait, my dog is out there somewhere, it's just frustrating. that's THREE (3) dogs that i have lost. 1. madison (adopted) 2. molly (foster adopted) and now 3. jones (adopted). just b/c i couldn't open my home in time! :( boo. (but like jenni said, i guess i just lost a dog that wasn't even mine yet and not a job...sorry jenni ;) )
work went by really quickly, i got stuff done, but not stuff that i really wanted to do so that wasn't fun. after work, i met shawna at the town lake shelter, even though none of the adoptables online were small. the process at town lake is a little more anal than the humane society. i got a 2 minute "interview" at the humane society. at town lake, they want your landlord's name, my mortgage paper and probably your first born child. the lady had to call shawna's landlord to make sure it was ok b/c they already have one dog and he denied her! what a mean MEAN landlord! boooooo. then i couldn't get approved because i have to PROVE that i own my house, which means i have to bring in "one of the many papers i had to sign" for it...um ok. whatever, so neither of us were approved and shawna is like blacklisted forever. so we went to look at the dogs anyway, lots of big adoptables and in the stray section, plenty of small ones, but not adoptable. boo.
anyway, then i went home and made this beef and broccoli stuff, which when i opened the package realized it's BYOV (bring your own veggies), so it ended up being beef and rice. i watched some tv and then laguna beach. next episode looks SOOO good! i made hot chocolate and that got me sleepy early, so i bundled under my covers and went to sleep.
this morning, i was worried b/c yesterday my hot water wasn't working as well as it could and i was scared it would be like that all winter long, but TODAY?! it was HOT! yesss. so, my new checks that i have ordered haven't come in yet and i definitely have bills to pay. thank goodness for online bill pay. also, there are great movies on sale at best buy and linens 'n things is having a FABULOUS sale on sheets. how would you guests like sleeping on 400 count egyptian cotton? yeah, that's what i thought. you're treated well at la casa de sirena.
