"and if it's real, well, i don't want to know"--no doubt

well i suppose i have been away from the blogging world for way too long and it is time for an update, b/c i've waited so long i need to make the days short.
on weds night, allison, her bf matt, art and carosa came over. we ordered pizza and tried to make it a night of drunken adventures, but it didn't really turn out that way. it was more of a chill, "what do we do?" night. we watched last week's grey's anatomy, listened to art talk about his engineering societies and guns (boo!) and try to watch batman begins. to no avail. but it was still fun. everyone left around 1, but not before i realized my back door had been not only unlocked, but cracked for over a week (before i went to vegas) and i made them stay to search through the closets before they could leave.
thurs morning i went over to my parents' house and helped my mom make some turkey day casseroles. i made green bean casserole and broccoli rice casserole, both were big hits! usually my dad's kids come over for turkey day, but this year, it was my mom's sisters and their husbands, plus cousins, rose & thad, lisa, erica and her baby, candy (the 2 year old stripper) and michael. my aunt julie decided to bring up various conversations such as "birds can't speak to each other if they are of different species" and "canola oil is made of plastic". obviously these conversations made me dumber than i was the day before, but this is my family. everyone took off pretty early and then, rose and thad and i went to my house. (it was also rose's bday--happy belated boo!)
fri morning, rose and i woke up bright and early at 4am to go to walmart to get $88 digital cameras. yes, i stood in line for 25 mins for that bad boy. it is worth it, i'm so glad i'm back in the technology game. after that, i rushed home and changed to meet my mom at 6.30am. my great aunt passed away this past tuesday and the funeral was friday morning in san antonio. we got off, and on the way, we almost got into a car wreck as my mom skidded, once to the left to hit a curb which slowed us down to about 1mph before landing one foot away from a telephone pole. it wasn't scary, (interesting), but my mom was pretty shaken up. i guess i knew we weren't going fast enough for it to hurt us. le sigh. after the funeral, a bunch of my aunts and us went to eat lunch and my fav mexican restaurant and my mom and i came back to austin. rose & thad came over and we went downtown to celebrate rose's bday. we started off at malaga for some tapas and drinks, then went to kenichi for some sushi. love it! i got some really great news towards the end of our evening at halcyon from a ms. laura bundy. :) (i will wait to distribute this news. i apologize for the delay). after that, we all went back to my parents house, chilled out some, then back to my house.
sat morning, my mom came over and made us breakfast, then we went shopping. it was pretty fun. i bought a bunch of stuff for my house, along with some hot silver heels and a new wallet. we got a late lunch, then rose & thad left back to corpus and i came back home...and did absolutely nothing.
today i woke up early and met shawna to see walk the line. what a GERAT movie! i highly recommend it. i knew nothing about johnny cash but i thought it was well told. and i think both joaquin phoenix and reese witherspoon did some great acting. afterwards, i wanted to go see a dog i am very interested in at petco, but when we got there, they hadn't arrived yet, so we went to eat lunch at jason's deli, then back to petco. not there yet. so we shopped at old navy and some shoe store. i bought some velour pants b/c they were $10. the dogs still weren't there, i gave them my number, but they never called. damn foster people. how do they expect to get their dogs adopted if they don't show up!!! then i drove to another old navy to see if i could find the matching jackets, i had to go to 2 before i found one, but it's ok, because i really wanted it.
now i'm at home, very tired, wishing i had a dog and debating on dinner. after this weekend it's very apparent the gym should be my 3rd home (next to, of course, my original home and my office). i'm really not looking forward to work. i know it's going to be crazy busy and i'll have tons to do! ahhhh! please send me happy thoughts tomorrow!
