american girl in paris part 40 and london, part 1
sorry for the delay guys, i have about 5 days to catch up on and i barely had time to breathe, i'm using my lunchhour at work when no one is here to write this and post.
so on thursday, chris had class but he ended up sleeping in and then coming home early haha, what a winner. now i can't really remember what we did on thursday, boo! after he came home, we took a walk to the luxembourg gardens and got a bottle of wine and a baguette and cheese and just sat in the park and relaxed. i dont' know why i can't remember that night, i was very excited b/c i was feeling so much better. oh yeah, we went to his friend sebi's house and drank and played poker, i was starting to win and then everyone had to leave, boo! but it was fun, everyone i've met here is really really nice.
on friday, chris only had class in the morning and i wanted to see his school, so i met him at school after his class and we ate lunch with a friend of his and then he drove us back to paris (they go to school in the suburbs of paris), which was an experience, seeing as no one knows how to drive there and there aren't really lanes. ahhh. after that, i think we took a nap and then got ready to go out and walk around. we found food and then ended up meeting up with his friends from school at one of their many "house parties". i was wearing these black boots (they're not uncomfortable) and one of the russian girls was like "yeah i remember the first time i came to paris i wanted to look all stylish adn i wore shoes like that" and i'm like...umm, these aren't my walking shoes. needless to say, i held my own but in my head i was like what a B. she doesn't know me, stop outwardly judging me, i'm sorry your shirt is ugly and so are your jeans, but i didn't say that,...did i? NO! whatever. we left soon after because chris was taking me to switzerland on saturday for my birthday present!!
we had to wake up really really early on saturday so right now we're running on 4 hours of sleep. we got on the plane and i got like an hour of sleep and then we got to geneva. the first thing we did was go to the geneva auto show, apparently it's really famous and i was expecting like these weird cars that you would never drive or anything, so i told chris we weren't going to stay long, but when we walked in i was like wow. they were like REAL cars that normal peopel could afford and you can sit in them and stuff, so i pretended i was going to get a bmw or something stupid haha, and they had like normal brands like honda and toyota and then v. expensive ones like ferrari and bentley, etc. anyways, after i enjoyed that more than i thought, he took me to lunch at this really nice restaurant called la perla de le lac or something, i can't spell, which overlooked lake geneva, very fancy, haha. after that we walked the mile aroudn the lake and took some pictures and then just explored geneva. switzerland has such a different feel to it, it's calm and relaxed and just amazing, not to mention the views. it was really awesome, we stopped at a few places to have coffee and some tea or somehting, i dont' know but i was gettign really exhausted but trying to enjoy it at the same time. we caught our flight around 7 or so and got back to paris around 9 and scoured the place for somewhere to eat, we ended up eating at some little pizza place b/c it's all we could find even though we really wanted chinese food. boo. (this is a big boo b/c the next day we saw plenty of chinese restaurants that were open) we were so utterly exhausted that we fell asleep the minute we came home adn slept in on sunday.
sunday, we slept in (as said earlier) and took our time getting ready, we ate lunch at a belgiun restaurant and just started exploring paris. by now i've been to all the "famous" spots so now it's just enjoying the city, we found a really cool book place that sold really cheap books, most of them are in french but together we spent like $4 on cds and books haha. then the 2 people who hate sweets both got ice cream in a little square, basically we just enjoyed the city. he took me to his favorite bench which overlooks the eiffel tower and i got to see it sparkling and stuff, yes how romantic, haha. for dinner, we decided to step back on american soil and eat at hard rock cafe, apparently they have really good nachos and for about an hour i didn't feel like i was in paris anymore. nice. anyways when we finally got home i had a lot to do to prepare for london and was really mad that i didnt' get to sleep til like 130, b/c i had to wake up at 6 to catch my train. haha
anyways monday morning chris sent me off on the train to london, and i got to my hotel and worked about a half day. i really like my coworkers, they're all really nice and funny. i'm having a great time! that night though i just walked down to oxford street, decided not to shop and just got dinner and went back to my room. i was incredibly tired, boo. last night was better b/c i was more alert and after work, my 3 coworkers and i went to this little bar/restaurant that overlooks some river and had a drink which turned into dinner which turned into 2 more bottles of wine (they were very excited about my wine selection apparently) which turned into my coworker having to walk me to my hotel to make sure i got there ok. l.u.s.h. haha. oh well. we're all laughing about it now.
anyways kiddos, might not be able to update again til this weekend or even monday so dont' be too impatient, tonight i'm going to see wicked with a coworker and having dinner. i'm v. excited. cheers!
