have you had your latin kiss today?

"but if the sun sets you free...you'll be free indeed"--ben harper

hello all!

so i know it's been forever, thank you lesli for that comment, i was just about to update today :) so i guess it's been a month, in the last month, i've been to SA for my uncle's 50th birthday party, we are one in the same. big parties, i gave a speech, he gave a speech, i karoaked...sort of, he karoaked, birthday shots. i mean it's obvious we're related.
the next weekend, my mom and i set off for tennessee...nashville and a little place called darden...no i didn't get to see elvis, he's in memphis, boo. but i DID get to feed horses...almost the same. hah.

and i almost brought this dog home with me!

after tennessee came 4th of july which was spent doing a whole lot of nothing, i just hung out with kelli and saw "license to wed": save your money. l*bo and shea came into town this past weekend for kelli's "apt-warming" party, and it was really really great to see them. i haven't seen them in a few months and we always have so much fun together!!

now that july is ALMOST half over (ok not really), things are looking pretty bright, going to the beach this weekend, i think and chris comes home in 17 days! and i pretty much can't contain my excitement, every so often i just kind of burst out saying "CHRIS COMES HOME IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!" ...b/c i am just THAT excited. august is also full of fun things, we decided with time/money wise, to go to new orleans for our anniversary which is sometime this month...like the 13th or the 30th...in any case, we're all booked up for that and i am REALLY excited to 1. take a trip with him and 2. go to NOLA when it's not mardi gras, i think it will be so fun! and we've already found lots of things to do and eat (i know, planner.) i'm ALSO going to vegas with kelli and shea around mid/late august for a few days which i know is going to be really fun too. such a traveler as with chris' last semester in okc starting aug 20, i'm sure i'll be on more planes to oklahoma than i've ever been on in life...i mean to oklahoma, i've been on plenty of planes. :)

so that's the next thing i'm supposed to be talking about i suppose...haha. me and chris, and why he's so special. well first let me just say that things are going really really well. i think everyone thinks i'm crazy for doing the whole distance thing (again...but hey, 3rd times a charm), and i'm basically now to the point where you can think what you want. i have never (or have ever said so in blog form) ever felt the way i feel about chris towards anyone else. sure there is love, but this is the stuff you read about and think doesn't exist, but that's not true, the butterflies that i still feel when i know i'm going to see him or when he calls/texts me or when i get an email from him. he makes me smile without even trying. when he left in december, we both knew it would suck being so far away from each other, but here we are 7 months later and he's coming back! it actually really flew by.

in any case, we both having been in long distance relationships before, we both knew what we would have to do to make it work. let me say now that the #1 thing you need is trust, otherwise you're pretty much screwed, honestly. if i didn't have that with him i guarantee i would have already gone crazy, but i haven't b/c he's pretty much the most loyal guy i've ever met. we both do our best to email and call and keep each other abreast of what's going on in our lives, you HAVE to make the effort, BOTH people or it's just not going to work. so thank goodness for the past relationships because if it hadn't been for them, this may not have gone as smoothly as it has been going.

we do have the issue of the next step, it's serious in the fact that he doesn't know where his potential jobs will take him. he's headed to saudi on friday for an interview/walk around the compound. they've offered him a pretty nice package and he's very tempted to take it, in any case, he's mainly taking the free ticket "back home" (give him a break, he lived there for 23 years). in any case, he still has one semester left, a thesis to write and more job interviews to go on. basically he could go anywhere. now where does this leave us, you wonder? yes. i wondered too. it leaves us to go great places, and i use "us" because HE uses "us." because he is doing what's best for "US" and you girls know where i'm going with this. the thought of moving back to saudi or anywhere overseas for that matter is so exciting to me! it's exciting because it's different and full of adventures! (i know, cheesy) but seriously. nowhere is as great as texas, i promise you that, but the idea of moving and experiencing more things as an adult and not just have my experiences as a child which i can never explain or EVER get back, is absolutely a chance i don't really want to pass up. so yes, it IS that serious. discussion after discussion have given us possible scenarios but don't worry friends, should the question come up and eventually i have to leave, i have a good 1-1.5 years in texas. (long distance, again?..but at least i'd have more things to look forward to get me through that time) --also i just watched the SaTC epi where the russian asks carrie to move and all of her friends go a little crazy...i would ask that if chris and i are supposed to happen that i don't get a billion questions questioning my sanity. maybe just 1 or 2.

so you must be wondering now, who IS this guy that someone would be willing to leave behind friends and family and texas for? chris is the most generous, patient, loving, caring, protective, unselfish, thoughtful guy i have ever known, or obvs been with. he has a huge heart which is used to tell me how much he is always thinking about me and loves me. he's always full of surprises (hello, rachael ray magazine subscription, i know he probably wants me to cook for him, but please. i LOVE rachael ray), and loves to do things: travel, explore, go on adventures. he makes me laugh and he gets me and my past in a way that no one else will ever get. he not only cares about me but is always asking about my family and my friends. he also puts up with my craziness when it comes about (oops) and is very patient when those things come about. he never raises his voice or loses his temper with me and believe me, i have gotten a little crazy where that might have been necessary. he's comfortable without being boring. he wants what's best for US and that makes me heart smile. last but not least, obviously, cheesy line, he loves me for me. he has NEVER asked me or expected me to change who i am to please him, and that is a very big deal for me. i know there are probably plenty more things to say about him because after all i do think he is amazing, but i am a little at a loss at the moment. he is just a sweetheart.

in any case, sorry i took so long to update, hopefully i won't be so ridiculous in the future. thanks for waiting loyal readers!

:)

peace.
