have you had your latin kiss today?

receptions, flowers, dresses, oh my.

soooo...this past weekend was good, very chill, but good. didn't do too much on friday, chris came back from SF and so i went to hang out with him and we just rented a movie, saturday we went to the UT basketball game b/c they were playing st. mary's (his college) and that was really fun, we had courtside seats and that made the game so much better! afterwards we ordered pizza and then met up with kelli and just went to cru for some wine, we didn't get out til almost 12 and they were already closing. then we went to the intercontinental (for some memories, haha) and thought about having our reception there...

speaking of...weddings are hard work (not that i didn't think it would be), but issues i have come in contact with. how many people do we have? at LEAST 200, that is not b/c we are having some extravagant wedding, it's because we (incl parents) know that many people, awesome. the fact we have at least 200 kicks out a lot of reception sites or at least the "pretty" ones or the mansions, etc. unless we want to do the wedding in shifts...hah. so now that i have emailed/called almost EVERY single place in austin that will hold 200+ people, i sit waiting. i sit waiting next to my bridal notebook, my binder (including other packets from reception sites) and a pen...waiting to hear some good news. partial good news is we would like to get married in the church in lakeway...it's just.so.pretty. we are meeting with the deacon on friday to discuss our issues with the having to take the classes - [yes, we are catholic, so is the churhc] (ie. fiance is moving overseas...how does this work?), luckily it's open for our date: dec 6th, btw, so now we have to figure out how to get this taken care of. on the other hand, should the classes not be able to be taken, then we can extend our searching of sites to include ceremony as well. not too big of an issue, b/c this would take me a bit farther from austin, yet, to some really pretty winery or something.

some things that i struggle with: no one really cares whether we get married in a church or not (read: us, or parents), it's just that it is really pretty! should we just say oh well if it doesn't work and go on with the whole ceremony and reception at the same site thing, which to be honest, sounds really nice with all of our out of town guests...and speaking of out of town guests...what's wrong with having the reception at a nice hotel like the driskill or four seasons...at least then, our guests could go straight to a hotel instead of driving home...(well you other people who live here, take cabs!)

should i start naming this blog, the wedding diaries or what?

it's just that who knew planning a wedding was more than choosing a dress and thinking about whether your reception site allows for outside catering and how much does the price include? it's just one big party and i think as soon as i realize that it is JUST that... a party..no matter what happens or what we do, the main thing is that we are getting married and we love each other and whether it happens in the church, at a mansion or in a parking lot, it really doesn't matter. ...why can't i just say that to myself normally? haha. everyone who keeps giving me advice keeps saying that...so maybe i should actually listen?

anyway, i am open to ideas which usually cause me to have MORE ideas, so if you guys have any suggestions, feel free to let me know :)
