"blame it all my roots, i showed up in boots and ruined your black tie affair"--garth brooks
so yesterday was valentines day, honestly it just felt like a normal tuesday the entire day. no one brought chocolates in, or anything like that. besides the fact that i consciously wore pink and was eating sweethearts all day, nothing was out of the ordinary. here is a funny conversation i had with my dad though:
dad:"so did you get any flowers today?"
me:"nope"
dad: "aw, you're not anyone's valentine?"
me:"nope"
dad:"well, you can be my valentine"
me:"that's great dad, i still didn't get any flowers from YOU!"
dad:"oh. so you wanna look at cars this weekend?"
me:"can't, really busy these next 2 weekends"
dad:"why not this weekend again?"
me:"i'm having my party"
dad:"well i didn't get my invitation yet"
me:"*laugh* oh."
dad:"i guess i'll get my invitation when you get your flowers"
so after work, i went home, ate, changed, then went out to target, risking looking like the sad girl alone on valentines day buying toilet paper. oh well. target was REALLY empty, except of course for those sad souls who forgot it was valentines day, getting the really crappy batches of flowers that were left and the last card that was incredibly too crass to give to the one you love, but was all that was left.
my car gave me a great valentines gift though, after i paid $600 to get it fixed, it decided to shine it's great "service engine soon" light, constantly. awesome, glad for that. my mom and i are going to switch cars again tonight. boo. and my dad and i will be on the lookout for cars pretty much starting any minute.
all in all, it wasn't a horrible valentines day, but it may have gotten knocked down further on the list of favorite holidays...i mean, honestly, what was i thinking? ;)
i talked to my cousins today, yup, looks like my cousin with the a-hole boyfriend is falling further into the disappearing category. girls, words of advice, don't get involved with someone who is ultra controlling. chances are, if your family was important to you BEFORE you dated, you'll never see them again. (and that's not OUR choice). asshole.
i am STARVING! with a capital STARVE. boo. it's not even 11.30.
peace out.
