"and i just want to walk away"--ben folds
so i had a very productive weekend!
on friday night my mom and i headed to SA. we had dinner wtih my aunt julie at sea island and then just went back to her house to hang out and sleep.
we woke up very early on saturday morning, we had quite the whirlwind wedding day planned: 2 cake tastings, 2 dress shops, 3 bakeries and 1 lunch in 12 hours or less. we know how to roll, let me tell ya. our first stop for cake tastings was a little place called bumdoodlers, i actually ate the cake, (if you don't know i was a little wishy washy about even HAVING a cake) and i didn't want my mom to have to be the only person trying it, also it was 9am and i hadn't had breakfast yet. anyway, the cake was GREAT and the price was even better! after that, we went to nadlers at 11 (i had a dress appt at 1130...yeah i know), the cake was so incredibly sweet, i couldn't even eat it. blech. then we were late to the dress appt but everyone there was very helpful and i sort of found 2 dresses i liked. after that, we met up with my 2 aunts and cousin at our fav mexican restaurant, i probably shouldn't have eaten before the next dress appt but i really didn't care b/c i was STARVING...such is the life of a bride. then we went to this place called the bridal galleria. i sort of envisioned this HUGE bride dress store with a name like that, but in fact it was very small and cute and the lady who helped me reminded me of my grandma. she didn't speak english very well but she kept calling me "mi amor" and being very cute lol. after trying on about 3 or so dresses, i tried on one that she picked out for me, i told her what style i was looking for and she thought i would like it.
she was wrong.
i. loved. it. i inhaled deeply and felt like the most beautiful person on the planet and i knew. i forgot entirely about any other dress i had tried on. this was the one. luckily the price was pretty good as well. it was about $200 over budget which we made up with when my cousin's wife let me borrow her headpieces and veil (which match perfectly!), that in itself is a good $400+ i didn't have to spend. so exciting! this put me on a roll for more wedding stuff. i decided to change the bridesmaid dress length from tea length to full length since my dress is a bit more formal, plus the wedding IS in december so it's probably more appropriate. needless to say i'm so excited to have that done now before i leave. :) (obvs i am not posting a picture of the dress on here!)
next step: save the dates.
sunday i slept in and then met chris' mom at this little bridal expo thing down at the convention center. i did not even THINK about SXSW going on and it took me 30 mins to find parking. boo. anyway, it was a lot less stressful and overwhelming than the bridal extravaganza. it was a lot more spread out and easier to maneuver. we went mainly for invitations and flowers. i found several invitations i liked and not too many flowers. eh. what do we think about silk flowers for the bridesmaids? lol. anyway, it was helpful and then i went back to their house and had dinner. yum!
anyway i am in such a great mood and got my second burst of energy for wedding planning. i just knew i had to find a dress before i could focus on antyhing else and here i am!
on an even better exciting note? 9 MORE DAYS UNTIL I SEE CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no more double digits. i have to start packing!!!
we have also been thinking about where we are going after our wedding. we aren't takign our real honeymoon until march or so of next year, but we wanted to get a way for a few days so we are trying to figure out where to go, just somewhere locally and not mexico. so far i have thought of new york (brr!), napa valley for the wineries (perfect!) and maybe boston (i've never been), also my sister can get us a beachhouse in florida, but i don't know how fun the beach is in december. so anyway, if there is any place you guys have been that you think would be fun and romantic in the US let me know!
