salaam
i'm baaaack....with a serious case of jetlag. right now it is 6am my time, which means i am just waking up. i have been up for over 48 hours by now and traveling for 26. i am a walking zombie. i did take pictures and so did chris. mostly they are of dubai. which was a surprise! i will update more tomorrow but basically chris' flight arrived about 10 mins before mine did (he was in dubai for work) and he was able to meet me at the gate! loves.it. when we went through immigration he was talking to the guy in arabic and all i heard were 'dubai' and 'morning', and i was like why is he lying to this guy? anyway, it turns out, for my birthday he was taking me to dubai for the weekend! dubai is just as crazy as it looks on tv. we even had brunch at the burj al-arab (yes the famous sailboat shaped hotel shown on the crazy discovery channel special) which is as amazing as it looks. dubai is crazy. it really is. and amazing.
i will update more about bahrain tomorrow if i can. i'll just leave you with this. it.was.awesome and the fear of not wanting to come back happened. i absolutely cannot wait to join chris overseas in a place that is full of so much different culture and honestly, has everything you would ever need. i would be lying if i said i won't miss my family and my friends (hi austin phone number, email and blog), mexican food (i am brown afterall, why not take advantage of continuing to learn how to cook from my mom) and express (there are at least 5 stores that can compare to it there), but that's what vacation is for!
shopping: check
beautiful views: check
good weather: check (except maybe during august)
interesting people: check
food: check (more than you could ever want)
and really, most important. chris: check :)
finally feeling sleepy. so i'm going to take advantage of it and get to selep!!
