"what use is it to you what's on my mind"--avril lavigne
well i thought i would give everyone a short update on how my trip was and also some things i'm loving right now.
so bahrain! we got back from dubai on friday and went to the "beach house". basically the way you can live over there is either in high rise apts/lofts (think downtown austin), villas or on a compound. the first time my family and i lived in saudi, we lived on a compound where everyone that worked for the company lived on, it was very small, only about 15 houses, with a tennis court and pool. there was a driver that took us to school and any of the women shopping or to work if necessary. the beach house we stayed at was on a compound that one of chris' friends has a house on he lives at on the weekends. there are about 30 or so houses on it, it's a walk to the beach and there is a pool and restaurant/bar. we talked about, after i move to saudi, and after we find a place to live in bahrain (which will prob be in some sort of loft type thing), we will prob have to wait for it to be built, therefore we would move to bahrain and just rent out a place while we waited. chances are it will be on this compound, called hamala beach compound. i personally don't think it looks anything out of the ordinary but i can imagine if you've never seen something like this before you would think where are you moving? anyway the houses are stucco houses with little carports, nothing fancy but will be liveable for a few months, also they rent things furnished which will be helpful.
anyway, i'm not going to go day-by-day of everything we did, because he had to work sun - tues and i got really sick on saturday night which lasted all day sunday and a little onto monday. so during the days i hung out by the pool and went the mall and enjoyed my $8 Glamour (oh btw, hi import costs), believe me, i read EVERY. SINGLE. ARTICLE.
on saturday, chris took the day off (work weeks are sat-weds for saudi and sun-thurs for bahrain/dubai) and we drove around the island...well not ALL around it, it's kind of big, but drove around enough for me to realize that grocery stores will allow me to make tasty dinners, shopping will probably be even better than it is here lol, a sephora? really? thank.you. we also went to markets and places that are very typical of bahrain or saudi so i could get a feel for how those things were (again), there are plenty of places to buy furniture and appliances and basically everything i/we will need can be purchased there. it's not like when i lived there before and we'd have to come to the states and stock up on things to take back. everything is pretty much available to us. also, how could you not love being able to travel to exotic places so quickly? the past few trips i have been on i realized how much i absolutely love to fly and love to see new places! i mean obviously a 26 hour trip isn't my idea of a GREAT time, but i'm sure making it with someone else is a bit more entertaining. i am seriously going to invest in a nintendo DS with the crossword puzzle game for our long trips.
in any case, it was really great to go and get any initial culture shock out of my system. i am really going to enjoy living there, i can tell. and if you save up enough money you can come visit! ;) by the time we move into our new place in bahrain, it might be the end of 2009, plenty of time to put a little $$ away, haha. it really is beautiful there and things are just. different.
so yes! the trip was a success, not if i didn't have to go 3 months without seeing my fiance. boo :(, but april is here and i have LOTS to keep me busy so i think that will help. in any case, there are a few things i have been loving lately and i thought i would mention them.
oil of olay night firming cream
i started using this about a month ago. now i've been using moisturizer for awhile but i think when i turned 26, i acquired a serious fear of wrinkles, therefore i have been trying to take extra care of my skin: spf moisturizer for the day and a special night moisturizer at night. i also use an eye cream, i am not impressed with the one i'm using now but it cost me some money and something is better than nothing... in any case, within the past week i have had multiple people ask how old i am, or that i don't look old enough to be getting married. ok fine, i look young anyway, but people are making comments more often than they used to. so i'm a believer. i may end up with the eye cream if this works ;)

it's popcorn, it's cheese flavored and it's 100 calories. 'nuff said. these are constantly sold out at my randalls. boo.
anyway that's it, with my job title change, came more responsibility, as i had my year review last friday, which was also my 3 year anniversary at my job. i also turned in my proposal to transfer overseas, so fingers crossed!!! (things look good so far)...anyway i have been busier this week than usual, so yay!
anyway i am busy for the next 5 weekends so dont' expect to see me. boo.

so i probably jumped on the bandwagon a little late, but oh well. i asked for this cd for my birthday, but got a best buy gift card instead b/c no one could find it. well i FINALLY found it last week, purchased it and it has not left my CD player since (i keep forgetting to rip it to itunes, also i don't want to take it out of my car for fear i will forget to put it back) in any case, i absolutely love every.single.song. i love having CDs i dont' have to skip through. loves. it.
